Strength for Runners Program

Many runners, and those looking to begin their running journey, often overlook the importance of strengthening their bodies to handle the repetitive loads and impact associated with running.

Strength training provides numerous benefits, including minimising the risk of injury, assisting with rehabilitation, enhancing running efficiency and capacity, and delivering a performance edge.

The Strength for Runners Program offers both new and experienced runners a comprehensive assessment and an individualised strength program, designed and supervised by an Exercise Physiologist, to ensure safe and effective progress toward their running goals.

Who Can Benefit?

The Strength Program for Runners is ideal for individuals who:

  • Have the goal of starting their running journey, regardless of fitness level, age, or capacity

  • Want to run safely and minimise the risk of injury

  • Are runners seeking a performance edge and improved running efficiency

  • Frequently experience running-related aches or pains, or wish to prevent them

  • Are pre-season sports players who want to condition their bodies to meet the demands of their sport and avoid injuries during the season

What To Expect

Initial Assessment

  • Strength and range of motion testing of major muscle groups and joints involved in running to identify weaknesses, asymmetries, or areas needing targeted attention

  • Gait and running analysis to highlight technical factors that may increase injury risk or reveal areas requiring strengthening

Group Class Access and Program Prescription

Following your initial assessment and testing, you will be provided with an individualised, tailored, and progressive strength program.
The program will be designed based on your testing results, with the aim of working toward your running goals, addressing any weaknesses, and improving running performance while minimising injury risk

Regular Review and Re-testing

As your program progresses, our Exercise Physiologists will continually reassess and review your progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure you remain on the most optimal path toward achieving your running goals
